  1. A big thanks to Marjorie for letting me know that there were typeos in the documents. Word is jank and not wanting to run spell check. They're fixed now, and I'm planning tu upload sample chapters sometime today. Note, these are random pieces of the story, not the very beginning, though I am working on that. :) Thanks for reading!

  5. Ok y'all, here's an excerpt I've been working on lately. Not too long, but it's something. :)

Hearing the sound of her breathing next to him, Jake let his arm fall back against the headboard. They had both given into each other that night, and as the red sun illuminated her face, it set her eyes ablaze. He could have drowned in them just then. She saw him staring, and as she turned to get a better look at him, she saw how it caught his. His silver irises reflected the golden light that was just tinged with red; almost like gold, perfect in every way, tinged with blood. It was the story of her life, perfect, mixed with pain, all in his eyes. This was perfect; he was perfect. Letting her hand fall against his chest, Grace than heard him release a breath. Feeling him shift, her eyes moved to his entire face, rather than his eyes exclusively. He had shifted groom his back to his side, making sure his arm stayed securely around her.
    "I didn't wake you, did I?"
"No." her voice was just above a whisper, leaving hardly any echo in the stillness of this quiet morning. "I've been awake for about half an hour now, just watching you sleep. It's the first re al sleep you've had since..." she trailed off, hating the situation he and the others were in.
"We went into this with eyes wide open. We knew the stakes when we bailed." he tightened his grip on her as he said this, and she felt that rare secure feeling coming over her again, just as it had the previous night. Hearing nothing but his words, Grace leaned against him, her.head resting where her hand had been, just a bone his heart, which was beating rythmically in his chest. It was enough to lull her back to sleep, and so it was. She felt her body relax completely while within his grasp. Feeling the words as they left his throat, she concentrated on them, wanting ti hear him.
"I'e wanted this, to cross this barrier, to break it down, but I was always afraid of how I would handle it. Now that I have, I feel like the fear was all for nothing." though they were just words, they had a hidden meaning to her. Jake had been afraid of himself, and she was the same, afraid of her own reaction. She had fallen for Victor with all his hatred and bitterness. He had been poison that had made her almost dependent on him, and it had made her wary of all men, even this one. Something had been leading her to him from the day they first met, and it took this long for her to see it.
